Section Leaders
Teaching Drill - A meeting will be held 15 minutes before each rehearsal in which the Director will meet with section leaders to discuss goals for the day's rehearsal. Section leaders are expected to study and teach the drill movements to their sections. The section leader will also see that any individual having particular trouble with marching gets help in that area.
Cleaning Music - Section leaders are responsible for cleaning and practicing music with their individual sections during most on-field practices as well as checking and facilitating the memorization of music.
Warming-up - Section leaders are to make sure their section is warmed up and in tune before pre-game and halftime. Before pre-game, as we wait for the team to leave the field, section leaders should be going through warm-ups specific to their instrument and making sure people are in tune.
Uniform Dress - Section Leaders should emphasize the Uniform Dress Code and help maintain the unified image of the band.
Attitude and Criticism - The section leader should set an attitude of being serious about getting the job done to the best of everyone's abilities without making unreasonable demands on anyone. The section leader should be someone who can give constructive criticism as well as take constructive criticism from others.
Supplies - The section leader must make sure that everyone in their section has lyres, music, cork grease, oils, etc. Nobody should come to the Director over things like these.
